First, we'll meet online (in person sessions available in Los Angeles).  After we get acquainted, we'll jump right in––brainstorming ideas, talking about essays that worked, and perhaps looking at some sample college essays that show a variety of styles, topics and approaches. Next, we will move forward at a comfortable pace: selecting a topic, organizing thoughts, developing a written voice, drafting and revising, focusing the writing––making sure that it is clear, concise and flows well. After that, we will revise, edit and polish until the final version is successfully completed. Then we move on to short answer questions. I will work with you until you have effective essays that you feel proud to submit -- and that I know will be successful with admissions. Every student works differently and my teaching methods are responsive to the needs of each individual.  I do not have a cookie cutter approach––each student gets the attention they need in the areas they need it, and the time spent on each step will vary from person to person.  Each session lasts 1.5 hours -- longer, intensive sessions are available.
